What to Expect – Phases of Care

Phase of care at New Life Chiropractic

Laying the foundation

At New life Chiropractic of Virginia Beach we look at the three phase of care  like building a house –  In order for the house to be solid and we must first start with a stabile and strong foundation. Certain things have to happen in a particular order  for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body.  The spine and muscles make up the foundation of you body and a particular plan of care must be followed  in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care at New Life. . .

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first phases of care is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks. You should feel steady improvement throughout this phase.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent re-injury. The treatments during this time are more effective because without pain you will be less protective which allows for much better movement. It is typical to need care 2-4 times per month for 4-6 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Maintenance Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals. These numbers very greatly from one patient to the next. Generally these are maximum numbers. At New Life Chiropractic of Virginia Beach our goal is to get relief and correction in the most efficient way possible. If the three phases of care are followed the health of your spine will be maximized.
